Restoring confidence in the institutions of governance

Restoring Confidence in Institutions of Governance

What’s worse than an ailing democracy? The seldom hope of revival! And who better than the people been in the government and seen it closely, can help restore that hope? The seminar organized last Saturday by a corporate consultancy firm with ex-SEBI chief Mr Damodaran as their chairman, hit the bulls eye with addressing the right issue at the right time to the right audience. With the scams and scoundrels buzzing with the word parliament and government, making the nation believe in a bright future is a big challenge and these eminent speakers did exactly this thing.

It was a closed event with distinguishable speakers and audience of students from top 5 colleges in Delhi. The conclave started with the opening speech of Mr Jayaprakash Narayan who reasoned why all is not lost with brilliant examples from past and present and presented a future which deserve keeping faith in. He also threw light on what is keeping us from progressing blaming the highly centralized government and a defective system of delivery. His speech was well supported by the next speaker Dr Bimal Jain who apart from these added the big gap between the bright and sorrow side in the reason’s list. The audience, already thrilled with the preceding speeches, showed great enthusiasm for Ms Chavi Rajawat, a MBA who left all big opportunities to become the sarpanch of a poor village in Rajasthan. Since a management degree holder, she spoke of excellent management tools to improve the conditions of villages. Mr Srivastava Krishna, an IAS, also enthralled everyone with his enthusiastic speech over the contributions and achievements of those working as civil servants. The lecture concluded with a strong speech by Mr Sitaram Yechury, MP, who is closest in his experience with the present day crisis.

Great things are always subject to questioning and so were these speeches. After the series of lectures, the students were given an opportunity to ask their questions which were patiently answered by the addressees. The seminar ended on a high note with acclaims from all the guests and students.
