VENUE : College Auditorium
The much awaited Freshers’ 2012 welcome ceremony is finally here! The
venue was decorated flawlessly by the creative team headed by Ayushi Gupta. The
beautiful rangoli captivated everyone’s attention.
We gladly invited all the bubbly and chirpy first year students to
celebrate their admission into the institution of their dreams-the place where
they will be spending the three most crucial years of their lives, the place
where their crystal would but be moulded to fit into the Corporate world, the
place which would decide their destiny.
The theme of the Freshers' was "WALK OF FAME"
implying that the freshers would come dressed as
their favorite personality, their most adored celebrity. Our freshers
came in full spirit, they were not just happy and excited, but were
enthusiastic about complete participation in all the events scheduled for the
day.
The anchors for the afternoon Mehak and Kriti, did a commendable job. Aman
Jain, President, Commerce Society, Hans Raj College opened the event by
enlightening the juniors with his words of wisdom and instilled in them the
spark to leave no stone unturned in the coming three years of their college
life. His words received appreciation from one and all.
The function started on an auspicious note by lighting the lamp of
learning. The honours were done by our Principal, Dr. V.K. Kawatra, our H.O.D,
Mr. N.K. Jain, our Convenor, Ms. Sneha Suri, other teachers and our Vice
President Eeti Agarwal.
Our Cultural team Head, Esha Agarwal invited Mr. N.K. Jain to share his
wisdom. He insisted on being loving to one's family to be equally loving to
one's country. The mention of "Letter from a father to his son's
teacher" by Abraham Lincoln in his speech was an icing on the cake.
Later our Principal Dr. V.K. Kawatra enlightened us with his
valuable teachings. He emphaized on travelling that extra mile to turn our
dreams into reality.
Followed by the words of a true teacher, our performances included :
1. A "bharatnatyam" performance by Tina, II year student,
appreciated by all. She beautifully kept us engrossed with her gestures.
2. An energetic dance by Nalini Kothari, Nivedita Swami, Shalini
Lakhina, Megha Jhanwar, Arshi Aggarwal, Manisha Kano, Kamakshi Agarwal, Anamika
Banga. The smart energetic girls seemed ready to rock the floor. The music was
a medley of various songs that made the crowd even more interested. Their
innovative formations left the audience awestruck.
3. Another energy driven performance by Archita, a fresher who's
sizzling moves and belly dancing made the crowd applaud and cheer.
4. A tie knot game hosted by the anchors. Teams volunteered and competed
to see who ties the maximum knots in a minute's time.
5. The music band, comprising of four versatile musicians- Tenzing
Lagyal, Ajati, Izaz, Tempel with a great taste for guitar, sang "pichhle
saat dino mein" and had everybody's hands in the air.
6. Another sensational performance by a group of girls comprising
Simrita Arora, Akshi Gupta, Misha Kalra, Megha Bhola, Shubhneet, Akansha who
even though were freshers, came in full spirit. The music was a blend of the
old and the new and was replete with beats to enjoy.
7. A musical performance by the band WGC (When genres collide) who sang
"U & I", "Roobaroo" and "whistle". They had
the freshers totally occupied and everybody had a gala time.
8. An entertaining performance by Ishmeet on the song "ruk ja, o
dil deewaane" from DDLJ. He came down to the crowd and guys and girls
tapped the floor.
9. A bhangra performance by Waras made a spectacular contribution to the
fun and fraulic of the show.
The theme of our freshers' seemed to have had been followed with a lot
of dedication! From Deepika Padukone to Angela Jolie , from Anna Hazare To
Mahatma Gandhi , from J.K Rowling To Virat Kohli , all had put in that
extra effort to be a face in the crowd.
It not just gave us a chance to know the freshers better, but even
helped them display their creativity. The first round of the Mr. & Miss
Freshers' was a 30 seconds introduction round wherein they briefed the audience
about themselves as well the character or celebrity they've impersonated.
Our esteemed judges for the contest were Ms.Sonal Gupta (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce), Ms.Beauty Das (Assistant Professor, Dept. of Commerce )
and Arunima Chandel (Secretary, Commerce Society) did a commendable job in
shortlisting 10 girls and boys for the final round of the Freshers'.
The final round was a dance round amazingly hosted by Sonika and Abu where all the shortlisted candidates participated with all enthusiasm. Our technical Team head Aashna Jain definety
deserves a mention for the well coordination of the Sound Management.
The well deserved titles were given to the four best performers of the
day:
Mr. FRESHER : Abhinav Khanna
Ms FRESHER: Aanchal Arora
Mr. BEST DRESSED : Gaurav Agrawal
Ms. BEST DRESSED : Shaurya Gahlawat
The Food Management was handled in an effective manner by the Event Management
Team headed by Raghav Bansal. The students were overwhelmed by the courtesy and
affection with which team served Dominoz Pizza and the soft drink.
The much awaited freshers ended with a sweet vote of thanks.
The Commerce society wishes all the best to the first years for all their future
endeavors. We hope that the next 3 years of the college life moulds them
into personalities who are all set to ablaze the Corporate world.
